NBC may have given 'Bent' star David Walton the short stick with the critically-acclaimed, but quickly-cancelled series, but now the network seems to have more than made up for it. Following the actor's recent turn on FOX's 'New Girl,' NBC has tapped David Walton to headline their forthcoming 'About a Boy' pilot, a TV adaptation from 'Friday Night Lights' Jason Katims based on the book and Hugh Grant film of the same name. The pilot is generating plenty of buzz, so find out the latest 'About A Boy' inside!

Following up its high-profile move of attaching 'Iron Man' franchise and 'Revolution' pilot helmer Jon Favreau to direct, 'About a Boy' has finally found its man. Outlets are reporting that 'Bent' and 'New Girl' star David Walton has landed the leading role, fitting considering the low promotional push and quiet cancellation of Walton's earlier NBC series.

The subject of a 2002 Hugh Grant film and original Nicholas Hornsby novel of the same name, ‘About A Boy’ will follow the relationship between a “bachelor man-child” (Walton) and the young boy who moves in next door with his quirky single mother.  NBC’s effort is actually the second attempt to adapt the film for a TV series, as in 2003 FOX ordered a presentation written by Matthew Carlson and starring ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘s Patrick Dempsey.

What say you? Will Jason Katims bring the same 'Friday Night Lights' magic to 'About a Boy' now that David Walton has been cast? Tell us in the comments if you'll tune in for the new series!
