1880 - Francis Clarke and M.G. Foster patented the ELECTRICAL HEARING AID.

2000 - New York City Mayor RUDY GIULIANI disclosed that he had prostate cancer which cleared the way for HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON to win their Senate race after Giuliani later bowed out.

2006 - ROLLING STONES guitarist KEITH RICHARDS was hospitalized for a MILD CONCUSSION, after he FELL OUT OF A PALM TREE while vacationing in the Fiji Islands.

Doctors had to drill a hole into his skull to drain a blood clot on his brain and then had to remove part of his skull in a SECOND operation after part of his brain collapsed.

2006 - Construction began on the 1,776-foot tower for the new World Trade Center in NEW YORK CITY, that's being called One World Trade Center.  It's not expected to be completed until sometime in the year 2013.

2010 - Goldman Sachs was investigated by the U.S. Senate.  The investigators found that the investment banking firm made billions when the housing market bubble popped.
