Audience favorite Phillip Phillips had a rough week to say the least. The young guitarist with the endearing voice was rushed to the hospital late last week for kidney stones. But, don’t worry America, that didn’t stop him from making it to his rehearsal to work with guest judges will.i.am and record label executive Jimmy Iovine and blow them both away.

Jermaine Jones‘ dismissal from ‘American Idol‘ over outstanding arrest warrants was addressed on tonight’s episode (March 14.) It cleared up a lot of questions and hopefully squashes the rumors that the gentle giant is some sort of violent criminal, as press reports began to indicate when news of his ouster broke.

On tonight’s (March 7) episode of ‘American Idol,’ the Top 13 were asked to perform songs by Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. The girls performed Houston’s hits, while the boys tackled Wonder’s work.

Haley Johnsen took a huge risk on ‘American Idol‘ tonight performing ‘Sweet Dreams’ by the Eurythmics, and it didn’t quite pay off for the Top 24 contestant. Before her disappointing performance, Haley brought us to her hometown of Beaverton, Ore.  We fell in love with the 23-year-old’s bubbly personality and so wanted her to succeed.

The Hollywood rounds of ‘American Idol‘ have begun, and a whopping 68 contestants were sent home on the first day. The judges sifted through tons of talent, dashing dreams, breaking hearts and catering to possible future stars. If you watched American Idol last night then you saw the audition of Amarillo Native Kristine Osorio.  Kristine is a mother of three who flew to Houston to audition.  Kristine is in the process of going through a divorce, and took out a loan to pay for it.  However, she decided she would take a chance on herself and her talent and used the money for a airline ticket to Houston.  Check out her awes

Casey Abrams can now call Paul McCartney “labelmate.” The hirsute sixth-place finisher in last year’s ‘American Idol’ competition has inked a deal with Concord Music Group, which is home to former Beatle McCartney as well as Carole King and Rush.

After ‘The Voice‘ mentors shared their choice words about the music industry, their biggest competition voiced their opinions as well. The ‘American Idol‘ team took a dig at the NBC show — while simultaneously saying Kelly Clarkson‘s guest mentor stint was flattering for their own series.

There’s no one quite like Ryan Seacrest, which is precisely why FOX is trying so hard to keep him as the host of ‘American Idol.’ Seacrest’s $45 million contract is up for renewal, but it’s possible that he won’t be returning to run the hit singing competition.
