Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s long list of genre credits let the boys of Supernatural have a bit of fun with their dad busting skulls on The Walking Dead, but the two crossing paths onscreen is another matter. A familiar foe popped up on last night’s Supernatural, connecting universes with logic more twisted than barbed wire.

The Walking Dead murder-train is once again rolling toward a finale, and even as Season 7 lacks the promise of a specific death, casualties are bound to arise once open war with Negan breaks out. Our first synopses for the final three episodes of the season have arrived, promising a “heartbreaking decision” and a “more expansive” finale.

The Walking Dead gave us what could prove Season 7's last moments of levity with Rick and Michonne’s “Say Yes” supply run, and Carol is looking anything but agreeable in the first footage from next week’s “Bury Me Here.” Check out the first clip, as Morgan seems to be missing, while another preview suggest Ezekiel finally has his reasons to fight back.

The Walking Dead has had no shortage of controversy since the brain-bashing arrival of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, though the series may have inadvertently stoked racial tension as well. U.K. suppliers apparently pulled official merchandise over accusations of racism, though Morgan himself dismisses the controversy with “people are stupid.”

Whether or not The Walking Dead has begun to show its age, the makeup and VFX crew only have more fun with their undead designs as time wears on. Case in point, the spiked “Winslow” walker from Sunday’s “New Best Friends” marked a new visual benchmark for The Walking Dead, one which producer and gore guru Greg Nicotero shares new behind-the-scenes art and photos.

Now that The Walking Dead has officially dug out the “Rock in the Road” of its willingness to rebel, Season 7 has some additional mysteries to answer. Not only do we have our first clip of the mysterious crew making up Rick’s “New Best Friends,” but also a trailer that promises some major reunions ahead.

Andrew Lincoln swore that The Walking Dead would feel more optimistic in the back half of Season 7, and may actually live up to that promise. See Daryl and Carol lock and load once more in a new trailer, while Eugene surprisingly enjoys his stay with Negan, and even Rick cracks a smile!

We’ve still more than a week before The Walking Dead starts uniting communities against Negan, and we’re about ready to light this candle. The Walking Dead has always pushed the boundaries of gore and violence, though Season 7 understandably reached a certain plateau with its batty premiere. Some producers even suggested that fan reaction inspired them to tone down Season 7’s bloodlust, though showrunners now say otherwise.

We all got to bask in Rick’s reunion with Daryl and Maggie at the close of Walking Dead mid-Season 7 finale “Hearts Still Beating,” but there’s still the difficult task of actually inspiring hope to “Rise Up” against Negan. Rick isn’t off to a great start in our first photo from the 2017 premiere, as long as you-know-who remains in charge of the Hilltop.
