The Teal Pumpkin Project is awareness campaign for children with food allergies.  FARE (Food, Allergy, Research and Education) started this campaign to create awareness about the dangers of food allergies.  They encourage you to have treat other than candy available for those trick or treaters suffer from food allergies.   So where does the teal pumpkin come into play?

If you decide to participate then all you have to do is paint a pumpkin teal and sit it on your front porch, or you can download a special teal pumpkin flyer.  This let's kid's with food allergies know that you have treats for them.

Some items you could have instead of candy are bracelets, glow sticks, stickers, crayons, bookmarks, slinkies, any item you can find in the party favor aisle in your favorite store.

This isn't about taking away the candy, it's about making treats available to those children with food allergies, diabetes, celiac disease, etc.
