When it comes to grocery shopping, you have to do it, but does the thought of actually having to go to the store fill you with dread?  I don't know about you, but for me, it is not one of the things I enjoy.  So many factors come into play when it comes to grocery shopping, the time of day, which store you are going to, what you have to buy, etc.  Plus, the annoyances you have to put up with when doing your grocery shopping.  So here are the top 10 most annoying things about grocery shopping in Amarillo.

1. Aisle Hogs

These are the people who plant themselves in the middle of the aisle and block traffic on either side.  When they realize you are standing in front or behind them or when you say excuse me, they all act annoyed when they have to move.

2. Scooters

I think scooters were the worst idea ever to put in the store.  I understand why they are there, but half the time the people using the scooters don't need them anyway.  Have you ever been run into by a scooter, yeah it's not fun.  The people driving don't care who they run over.  My advice if you see a scooter coming down the aisle move to another aisle until they move.

3. Product Blockers

These are the people that stand in front of the item you need.  They have no clue what they want but they aren't going to move until they figure out what they want.  Don't be fooled they know you are standing there and they will take extra time just to annoy you.

4. Meat Misers

These are similar to the product blockers, they are the people who will stand there and look at every single package of meat.  Then after taking 5 minutes going through said meat they choose the first package they picked up.

5. The Texter/Phone Caller

Hey we all text I get it.  I text in the grocery store.  Sometimes we have to connect with our loved ones about something they might need.  However, when I'm texting, I find a spot in the store where I'm not blocking shopping traffic or walking at the pace of a snail.  Plus, no one wants to hear your phone conversation. We really don't care how your day went, we just want to shop in peace.

6.  Unruly Kids

I know taking kids to the store can be a nightmare.  I even understand that even some kids have special needs and the sensory issues that some along with grocery shopping can be overwhelming.  Those are not the kids I'm talking about.  I'm talking about those kids who are allowed to run rampant all over the store knocking things off the shelves and their parents just allow it, or the kid that has thrown themselves in the floor and are screaming because mom said no to the juice boxes.  I actually witnessed that one and couldn't help but laugh.  Their mom and dad just kept walking right off the aisle.

7. The Messy Shopper

This is the shopper who will knock things off the shelves or the racks and just leave it in the floor.  It happens all the time.  Apparently the product fairies will fly in and pick it up for them.

8.  Holding up the Checkout Line

These are the people who hold up the line, you know the ones that are like, my husband/kid went to grab something we forgot.  Then they smile and say, "I'm Sorry".  Yes thank you for the apology but if the lines are 7 deep and carts are filled to the tops, then forget the item or let your husband get in the 10 items or less line and purchase it separately.  Your time isn't any more precious than mine.

9.  Shopping Cart Laziness

How hard is it to take a shopping cart corral.  Seriously, most of the time they are a few feet away.  But no, you have to leave your shopping cart in the parking spot because you can't walk those extra few feet.  Without fail, the left cart always rolls into my car and leaves a ding.  Be courtesy, go put your shopping cart up.

10.  The "I'm Gonna Get that Front Parking Spot" Person

I loathe these people.  These are the people who sit in the lane with their blinker on and just wait for a car to pull out just so they can get that up front parking spot.  They will block traffic for 10 minutes sometimes just so they get that spot.  Most of the time, you can't go around them because there isn't enough room.  It's OK to walk a little bit.  Grabbing a parking spot just a few spots down isn't a bad thing.  Walking is good for you.

So these are a few things people here in Amarillo do in the grocery store.  Yeah this probably happens all over the place, but this is what I have personally witnessed.

What should have made the list and didn't.  What drives you crazy about grocery shopping?
