Write your Own Original Christmas Song for the Christmas Carol Challenge

We are very fond of the Christmas Season.  We have your opportunity to do something musically amazing, write an original Christmas song.  We have teamed up with the non-profit Christmas in Action to give you a chance to write and record a original Christmas song.  Wanna know more?

Christmas Carol Challenge

Entry fee is $25 per person involved in writing the song, or $100 for 5 or more people. (Check or Money Order made out to Christmas in Action)

All you have to do is write, record and submit and Original Christmas Carol, Song or Instrumental.

The entire song must be original and cannot contain samples of copyrighted songs.

Once you have your song written and recorded send us a copy.

Entries may be put on either a CD or Flash Drive. A WAV format is preferred over MP3 format but either will be accepted.  You may also submit a video of your song.  All entries must include Name(s) of the person(s) submitting the song, Address, Phone Number, email address, and Name of the Song

Or you can drop your entry and entry fee off at the Mix 94.1/KISS FM Studios at 6214 W. 34th, during regular business hours, M-F 9-5pm.  Or if it after hours you can slip your entry through the mail slot.

All entries must be received at the studios no later than 5pm on Friday, October 18th or postmarked October 18th.

All auditions or recordings will be screened and voted on judges picked by Christmas in Action and the Top 25 entries will perform live at the Christmas in Action Concert,  Thursday, December 5th at 6:30pm.

All top 25 entries will be featured on the Mix 94.1 website mixamarillo.com and on the KISS-FM website at kissfm969.com.

The winner of the Christmas Carol Challenge will be played on-air on Mix 94.1 during the Christmas Season.

1st place will receive a 10 hour Recording Session with Bill Ockander Recording Studio
And a cash prize of $500.00

2nd place will receive a cash prize of $250.00

3rd place will receive a cash prize of $100.00

All proceeds from the Christmas Carol Challenge benefit Christmas In Action.

Christmas in Action is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit agency that has successfully implemented the "tried and true" idea of "neighbor helping neighbor" by partnering with the community to repair the homes of low-income and/or disabled homeowners. When CIA's founder, Bobby Trimble, first started this program as a result of a lesson he was teaching to a group of young men in his Sunday School Class (scripture) he realized he had been led to a segment of our society which is, for the most part, completely overlooked. Local, state and federal government programs are "out there" for low-income young couples and children, and yet, there are virtually no programs to help the elderly and disabled who are living on fixed incomes. Think of it .. trying to live on Social Security or disability anywhere from $500 - $800/month! Imagine paying for a roof, plumbing, wheelchair ramp, etc., while trying to pay for prescriptions and food on this kind of income. Without Christmas in Action, literally thousands of elderly and disabled homeowners would have been displaced.
