Alanis Morissette Hints at ‘American Idol’ Talks
She’s got one hand in her pocket and another in Fremantle Media’s pocket, apparently. Alanis Morissette has announced that she may be in the running to be a new ‘American Idol‘ judge.
The angst-turned-zen rock queen revealed in a radio interview that she’s in talks to sign on to the struggling juggernaut. “I’m in talks with somebody right now,” she said somewhat cryptically. “I can’t name any names, but I’m pretty excited at the thought of doing it more formally. I still have to investigate further, that’s all I can say.”
Can you imagine Alanis sitting next to Head Diva in Charge Mariah Carey on this panel?! Both songstresses have new albums to promote. Morissette’s latest effort, ‘Havoc and Bright Lights,’ is due to hit shelves on Aug. 28, while Carey’s new single, ‘Triumphant (Get ‘Em)‘ is leading up to an upcoming full-length record.
Morissette has some mentoring experience on singing shows, as she served as a guest mentor on the second season of ‘The Voice,’ coaching Adam Levine‘s charges. We think she’d be a great mentor to the rocker types on the show, and there’s always at least one every season!
Though Morissette would certainly be a unique and unexpected addition to the panel, she’s up against some stiff competition. Rumor has it that Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg), Diddy and Pharrell Williams are in talks to join the show, and Nick Jonas confirmed that he’s close to sealing his own deal.
