Thompson Park’s Inclusive Playground Overhaul: A New Era for Amarillo Families

Amarillo's Thompson Park is a popular destination for families on weekends. My kids love going out there and playing on the playgrounds, and watching the ducks. The zoo is also nearby, and in the summer you have the Thompson Park Pool to enjoy. There's a lot to do. Soon, there will be even more and you can help determine what it looks like.

Inclusive Playground Coming To Thompson Park

Amarillo Parks and Rec recently took to social media for a couple of reasons regarding Thompson Park. One was to catch everyone up on the fact that a new playground is coming to Thompson Park, and it's going to be an inclusive playground.

If you're unfamiliar with inclusive playgrounds, they're designed so that kids of all abilities can play and socialize in a sensory-rich environment. These inclusive playgrounds come in a variety of designs. Adding one of these playgrounds to Thompson Park sounds like a great idea.

Amarillo Parks And Rec Needs Your Help Designing New Inclusive Playground

Amarillo Parks and Rec has put together a survey to allow us to have some say in how this new inclusive playground is put together. The survey will let us help Amarillo Parks and Rec choose the themes and various features that will be a part of the playground.

This inclusive playground will be a great addition to Thompson Park, which already has plenty to offer. It will give everyone, regardless of ability, a chance to enjoy a day out in Amarillo. Take a few minutes, and fill out the survey. Hopefully, we see the new playground sooner rather than later.
