It should be no secret that when it comes to secondhand shopping, thrift shopping, and scooping up vintage items, Amarillo does pretty well for itself. We have more antique shops on 6th Street than you can shake a stick at. We've got tons of thrift stores.

That's a big reason why we ranked in the top 10 "vintage capitals" of Texas according to a recent study.

Texas Loves To Shop At Lift Stores And On eBay

A study done by BetTexas.com recently, found that the Lone Star State is a pretty good place to shop for a bargain. According to their research, Texas is embracing "secondhand shopping."

Supposedly this is fantastic, not just because it obviously saves you some dough, but it also cuts down on the amount of waste that comes from following the next 15-minute fad, so to speak.

Instead of constantly throwing away the old and getting the latest, Texas is perfectly alright with having a more vintage aesthetic.

Amarillo Is More Thrifty Than Lubbock

According to their research, we tend to search for secondhand items slightly more than Lubbock. The top city in Texas was Houston. We ranked 8th in the most thrifty cities in Texas.

Their rankings were based on things like the number of searches done for secondhand items in a given city.

What I found interesting was the bigger college towns that we beat out. I know when I was in college my closet was a showcase of interesting thrift store finds. There wasn't anything new behind that door.

So, congrats Amarillo. You really know how to stretch a dollar and practice "sustainability."
