It wasn't long ago that we were breaking triple-digit records in Amarillo and the Texas panhandle. We closed out the summer with brutal temperatures and a streak of 100-plus days that set a new record. Now, it looks like we should possibly prepare for a little weather whiplash with cooler temperatures.

Amarillo Could Be In For Colder Temps This Week

Considering the hot temperatures we just recently experienced, it's understandable that news of a possible dip below the average lows for this time of year is somewhat shocking. However, the National Weather Service in Amarillo says there's a chance we might do just that.

Is Colder Weather Coming For Amarillo, Texas?

Could this be the new trend? I hope not. I just got accustomed to sleeping with my windows open and waking up to a room that is almost the perfect temperature. Even though it's not the highest chance, I'm still going to have to dig for an extra blanket. I'll have to probably close the windows and dream fondly of the time when I slept with the breeze blowing through the curtains.

We're getting closer to that time of the year when we'll need to start thinking about colder temperatures. In the not-too-distant future, we'll need to make sure pipes at our homes are ready for freezing temps or close to freezing. We'll need to make sure our supplies are in order.

Even though there isn't a super high chance that it's going to get that cold Tuesday night, it still isn't a bad idea to be prepped. My windows will be closed, and I'll probably go back to sleeping with a comforter on the bed.
