Amarillo’s Gander Mountain Might Be Closing
Rumors have started brewing that Gander Mountain is facing potential bankruptcy and may have to close some of it's stores.
Amarillo's Gander Mountain is located just outside of Amarillo on Westbound I-40 and it is the prime location for all things hunting, fishing, camping and outdoors. Not only that the company bills itself as "America's Firearms Supercenter."
Gander Mountain has 22 stores in Texas including the one in Amarillo.
Reuters recently reported that the chain might be close to filing bankruptcy this month.
So what does that mean for Amarillo. Does that mean that we might lose our source for all things outdoors?
Gander Mountain did respond to the rumors that the company would be filing for bankruptcy. They have sought the aid of external advisors and have retained the company Houlihan Lokey to help the company come up with a plan and a strategy. They said that the stores and the website at this time will remain "the place to go for all of our customer's outdoor adventure needs."
Gander Mountain does compete with companies such as Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's. The closet of these competitors is Cabela's. The store is located in Lubbock on West Loop 289. Or one could take a hop, skip, and a jump to Oklahoma City and visit Bass Pro Shops.
