Monday is a special day. Veterans Day is a day we set aside to honor military veterans. The day is usually spent celebrating and remembering those who dedicated their lives to serve our country. As is the case every year, there will be some things that are closed in Amarillo in observance of the holiday.

What Is Closed In Amarillo For Veterans Day

Don't forget, banks will be closed on Monday in observance of Veterans Day. That also goes for the post office. The City of Amarillo has also released information on which offices and services will be closed.

  • City Hall
  • Amarillo Public Library

  • Brush sites and no curbside service
  • Landfill
  • Amarillo City Transit will operate on a Saturday Schedule

City golf courses will operate with normal hours.

When Is Trash Pick Up If Monday Is A Holiday In Amarillo?

If you're wondering when the trash pick up will run because of the holiday, the City of Amarillo did post an updated trash schedule. There are changes to both residential and commercial schedules on Veterans Day.

For residential routes, the usual Monday pick up will be moved to Tuesday. Tuesday routes will run on Wednesday.

For commercial routes, schools will be serviced as usual. All others will have a route on Saturday, and then again on Tuesday.

On Monday, November 11, be sure to take a moment to honor and celebrate all of those who have served in our nation's military. Maybe take a veteran out for a free meal, or go see a movie and help out families of fallen or disabled veterans.
