One of the greatest gifts that music can give us, when done exceptionally well, is bring us joy, sadness or take us back to a moment in time.

As I was listening to A Great Big World's 'Say Something' on the air today, it reminded me of a song that was one of the biggest records from 1981.The song that parallels the simple instrumentation, yet poignant lyrics, is another duet featuring Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. Yes, I'm comparing 'Say Something' to 'Endless Love.'

The passion that is expressed though the vocals of both songs talk about love or the loss of love. And at the end of the day, love is one of the strongest emotions any of us can have.

'Say Something' was originally released in September 2013 and was featured on the finale of 'So You Think You Can Dance.'

Christina Aguilera heard the song and personally reached out to singer/songwriters Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino and asked if she could re-record it with them. Christina went on to perform it the day after it was re-released in November on 'The Voice.'
