Repairs are an unfortunate part of life. All the stuff we own will break at some point and need to be fixed or replaced. Coming up in Amarillo, there's an event that provides free repairs and teaches you how to do your own repairs in the future.

Repair Cafe Is Coming To Amarillo, Texas In March For Free Repairs

If you aren't familiar with Repair Cafe, it's an opportunity for you to take in items that need repairs and get them done for free. While the item is being repaired, you'll be watching and learning so that you can do the repairs yourself in the future.

It seems silly to pass up the chance to get something repaired for free and get some education in the process. Repair Cafe will be held at the Warford Activity Center on March 9 from 12 PM to 4 PM, and it is a free event open to everyone in the community.

What Items Can Be Brought To Repair Cafe In Amarillo, Texas

There are limitations on the types of items that can be brought into Repair Cafe. Items you can bring in are:

  • Clothes
  • Appliances under 40lbs
  • Wooden furniture under 40lbs
  • Bicycles
  • Dull Kitchen Knives
  • Computers or electronics under 40lbs

When you bring in your item, you will stay with it through the entire repair process. You'll actually learn from someone how to do future repairs on your own. This way your toaster stays on the kitchen counter, and not in the landfill. It also keeps money in your bank account.

I couldn't be happier to see something like this in Amarillo. Learning how to do your own repairs is important, and it has a lot of benefits from saving you money to reducing the amount of stuff we chuck into the landfill. For more info, you can check out Amarillo Parks and Recreation on Facebook.
