‘Glee’ Season 5 Delayed Following Cory Monteith’s Death
Following the untimely passing of 'Glee' star Cory Monteith, producers and writers of the Fox hit were left scrambling with how to deal with the loss of a major character.
While writers held emergency meetings on dealing with the loss of Finn, one definite move has been made: Season 5 will start later than originally planned.
Just Jared reports that the cast and crew of the series will take a break to mourn Monteith's death and cope with the loss before returning to the set. 'Glee' is set to resume filming for Season 5 in August. The fifth season of the show is set to premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Casting shakeups -- aside from the obvious loss of Monteith -- were already slated for Season 5. Dianna Agron, Heather Morris and more regulars were dropped from the cast, while they do have options to return in a guest starring capacity. Meanwhile, two new characters, a "cute and quirky" 20-something named Jenny and a new African American student, are on the table.
