It's that time of year in Amarillo when it seems everyone is seeing a bit of an influx in business. Reason? Yes, that lovely tax return. Now, while I know there are some out there who have to pay back the IRS (I'm sorry), many will receive a refund from Uncle Sam.

The fun part (for most) is determining what to spend that fancy tax return on. Some blow it all on a good time, others take care of needed things, and some will do both. I fall in the category of both. One of our cars needs a little work done, and my wardrobe needs a bit of an update. Outside of that? Let's have a little fun! Let's take a look at five fun ways to blow that refund.

Take A Trip

This is number one on many lists. Honestly, it was something that was on my list as well, but hey, gotta take care of the important stuff first. If you don't have that life stuff to worry about, then pack your bags and head to Rick Husband International Airport. You could have the trip all planned out like most people would.

You could also pack your bags, walk in the airport, look at the departure board, and just pick a random place. Now, the ticket may be a little more expensive, but how exhilarating would it be to not know where you're going until the last minute?

Redecorate Your House

Here's another one that is on my list. Not the WHOLE house for me, but we need a new kitchen table; we've outgrown it, so we're getting a new one. For you? Why don't you just redo your entire living room?

Get yourself that nice sectional couch you've had your eye on, and get those new wall decorations. Make it look like a show house!

Splurge On New Electronics

Every single time I walk into Walmart or an electronics store, somehow I end up daydreaming of a new TV. I see those 75 inch TV's and get an itch to pull the trigger, but I never do. This time? It might just happen. I do have a new iPad on my list of things I want/need, but that TV...I might just do it.

We all have electronics we have our eye on, and with how the prices of so many of them have come down, they aren't out of reach, especially with that tax return.

Fund Your Hobby

This one...here's my weakness. I'm a huge sports card collector, and I don't get the opportunity to indulge as much as I'd like. I was recently in Midland for my son's baseball tournament, and there is a sports card shop there. They do layaway. I found a few cards I'd really like to add to my collection. I went ahead and put them on layaway. I'm looking forward to paying them off. Also, if you're a collector here in Amarillo, hit me up. Make me spend my money, haha!

I don't know what your hobbies are, maybe it's restoring cars, maybe you're a collector like me, or you have another hobby. This is a perfect time to snag all the things you want inside that hobby, and not feel bad about it.

Pamper Yourself

Now here is one I know you're interested in, right? I've needed a massage for the longest time. I always justify why I shouldn't. My wife wants to do the whole salon experience, but like me, she justifies why she shouldn't.

Guess what? Now is the time to do those things. She's going to get that full salon experience, and I'm going to get my massage. You should absolutely do the same thing. You've worked hard all year, and that tax return is like a nice little bonus. Use it as such!
