The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame
According to Kelly Jordon, Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame selection committee chairman, The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame is comprised of 41 individuals and organizations who have made a significant impact on freshwater fishing in the state. This could be a nature journalist, pro angler, fishing club or industry leader.
Requirements for Nomination to The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame committee is now accepting nominations for next year’s induction into the hall of fame. Nominees can be either individuals or organizations who’ve made important contributions to fishing in Texas. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 1st.
The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Nominating Committee
The committee is comprised of anglers, industry professionals, fisheries biologists and organizations involved in Texas freshwater fishing. The criteria used in the committee’s decision-making process will include:
1.Ethics
2. Leadership and commitment
3. Unselfish contributions to the sport
4. Scope of impact on freshwater fishing
5. Fishing/fisheries management expertise
6. Overall impact
The Announcement of the Winner
The honoree will be announced in spring 2026 and officially inducted during a special ceremony and banquet this October at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame is housed at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens. Nomination forms and instructions are available online or by calling (903) 676-2277.

Resident Requirements
A resident fishing license is required of any resident who fishes in the public waters of Texas.
Exceptions
A license/package is not required for the following residents:
- a person under 17 years of age.
