Katharine McPhee Confirms Relationship With David Foster at 2018 Met Gala
The 2018 Met Gala included at least one addition to its collection of well-dressed couples: Waitress star Katharine McPhee and music industry legend David Foster confirmed their relationship as part of what McPhee called a "fun date night."
People confirmed the twosome were official after they appeared together at the annual New York City event. They've been at the center of rumors since September 2017, when they popped up together in an Instagram photo posted to Foster's daughter's account. They hadn't previously confirmed their status, but hadn't shied away from appearing in public together, either, the site said.
“My dad is kind of a hopeless romantic, and Katharine’s awesome. We really, really like her, and we’ve known her for a really long time. And if he’s happy, we’re happy," Erin Foster previously told the site.
McPhee previously told People she had "zero desire" to address rumors of the relationship.
“It’s great that they want to do that. I think it’s so amusing that people are amused by my love life,” she said. “Here’s how I look at it: I’m not doing anything wrong, so whether people think it’s true or false, I don’t, you know, there’s nothing bad happening in my life, so people can just say whatever they want."
McPhee and Foster first met on the set of American Idol in 2006 when McPhee was a contestant on the show. She's since had a bit of trouble with love: McPhee married Nick Cokas in 2008, and the couple announced their separation in 2014. Later, it was reported that McPhee had dated Smash director Michael Morris before her split from Cokas. Then, she dated Scorpion co-star Elyes Gabel, but the couple eventually split.
