Michael Bay Threatening the World With Fourth ‘Transformers’ Film
After rumors began floating out of the New York Toy Fair, Michael Bay took to his official site to confirm the reports that he would return to direct a fourth installment in the ‘Transformers’ franchise.
Says Bay:
Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re-imagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I’m excited about where it’s headed.
Despite rumors of a complete franchise reboot, the fourth film (‘Trans4mers’?) will reportedly still be a sequel to the last film, ‘Dark of the Moon’, but will instead focus on a new group of characters. Presumably this means we won’t be following Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky and his annoying parents, his annoying girlfriend, his annoying friends, his annoying…well, you get the point.
Bay was quick to point out that before he starts work on ‘Transformers 4,’ he will be shooting a smaller film (though there will probably still be explosions) titled ‘Pain & Gain,’ starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and a to-be-announced TV pilot. But fans of giant fighting robots and Bay’s particular form of “Bayhem” will be happy to know that further adventures await them in 2014. The rest of you have officially been warned.
