Nev Schulman Under Investigation for Sexual Misconduct, ‘Catfish’ Production Suspended
Catfish host and executive producer Nev Schulman has been accused of sexual misconduct, The Daily Beast reported on Thursday (May 17). Production has been temporarily halted on the show as MTV investigates the claims.
“We take these allegations very seriously,” an MTV spokesperson told the outlet in a statement. “We’re working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Schulman denied the allegations in his own statement to The Daily Beast, saying, "I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions—but these claims are false."
Catfish, now in its seventh season, began airing in 2012. It serves as a TV spinoff of the 2010 documentary of the same name, co-directed by Schulman's brother, investigating online relationships and whether or not people are who they claim to be.
Schulman, 33, married Laura Perlongo in 2017. The two share a 17-month-old daughter, Cleo James.
