The City of Amarillo announced today in a press release that this Thursday, there will be a ground breaking held. That ground breaking is great news for those in area who are needing help and experiencing homelessness.

Transformation Park's ground breaking is this week in Amarillo.

What Is Transformation Park?

Transformation Park is the product of a partnership between the City of Amarillo, area churches, and area businesses. It's a public-private style partnership aimed at helping our area's homeless population.

Transformation Park, according to the press release, is a non-profit entity. They provide a day center, drop-in safe space, and even temporary cabin style housing for those experiencing homelessness.

They also provide resources to help those experiencing homelessness transition to permanent housing.

You can find out more by following this link to their website.

Ground Breaking Is This Thursday, April 27

The entire ceremony starts with a lunch and then a prayer event. The actual ground breaking will be at 2 PM.

The location for the ground breaking will be near SW 4th and SW 5th, and Parker Street.

Hopefully this will go a long way toward helping those in the area who are struggling with finding permanent housing. Homelessness in Amarillo has been a hot button issue for quite some time.

We've even had mayoral candidates in the past make it the entire focus of their campaign.

The part of this that I am happiest to see is the focus on helping those who don't have permanent housing find a place of their own. For more information on Transformation Park, click on this link.
