‘Office Christmas Party’ Trailer: T.J. Miller, Kate McKinnon and Jason Bateman Blow Off Some Steam
“A bunch of hilarious people have one crazy, drunken night” is a familiar plot, and thanks to last year’s The Night Before, we’ve seen what happens when you put that in the context of holiday spirit — which makes this trailer for Office Christmas Party kind of impressive, considering how amusing it looks despite the fact that it feels like something we’ve seen before (Jillian Bell included).
There is not enough room in that headline space to give a shout-out to every funny person in this trailer, all of whom make Office Christmas Party worth the price of admission and then some. I’ll happily spend 10 bucks this December to see — deep breath — T.J. Miller, Jason Bateman, Kate McKinnon, Jennifer Aniston, Vanessa Bayer, Rob Corddry, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Matt Walsh, Randall Park, Abbey Lee, Courtney B. Vance, Olivia Munn and Sam Richardson party down.
Aside from the obvious, there are a few names in that lineup that make this holiday comedy even more intriguing: Like Fury Road star Abbey Lee, whose performance in the darkly satirical Neon Demon hints at comedic skills we haven’t seen yet; and The People v. O.J. Simpson’s Courtney B. Vance, giving us a total 180 from Johnnie Cochran (maybe, sort of); and Sam Richardson, who has become a real scene-stealer in the last two seasons of Veep.
That’s a whole lot of funny in one movie, guys. Here’s the official synopsis because yes, this does have a plot beyond “all these people you like get drunk at Christmastime”:
In OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY, when the CEO tries to close her hard-partying brother’s branch, he and his Chief Technical Officer must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.
Office Christmas Party arrives on December 9.
