‘Paradise’ Trailer: Diablo Cody’s Directorial Debut Heads to Vegas
The first trailer for 'Paradise,' the directorial debut from writer Diablo Cody ('Juno,' 'Young Adult'), has landed online just days after the announcement that the film will have its premiere on VOD via DirecTV on August 8. The film stars Julianne Hough as Lamb, a young, conservative Christian woman who is badly scarred in a plane crash, loses her faith, and runs off to Las Vegas with her insurance money to sin a little.
Hough is joined by co-stars Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, and Holly Hunter in this quirky comedy-drama about experiencing all that life has to offer, and if the trailer is any indication, Cody's directorial debut looks like a solid, heartfelt little treasure.
The official synopsis:
After a nearly fatal accident, 21-year-old Lamb Mannerheim (Hough) is beginning to realize that the world is much bigger than her small, God-fearing Montana town. Armed with a big, fat insurance payout and a checklist of untried sins, there’s only one place for her first taste of temptation…Las Vegas! And, with the help of a few new friends (Brand and Spencer), Lamb embarks on an oddball odyssey of lost souls, broken faith and cheap cocktails…a true journey of the heart.
Following its DirecTV premiere, 'Paradise' will hit theaters nationwide on October 18.
