Police Chase In Amarillo Lands One Person In Jail
This past President's Day, Amarillo Police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Prospect Street. The call was placed at 9:06pm for a reported fight in the street. As Amarillo Police Department officers begun investigating the incident, they heard gun shots close to where they were. The officers observed a 4-door car drive northbound through the intersection of NW 2nd and Belleview Street at a high rate of speed.
APD officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver refused to stop. After a short pursuit through the West Hills and San Jacinto area, the driver exited the vehicle at NW 4th and Prospect. The suspect then proceeded to flee on foot. Isaac Hernandez, a 20-year-old male, was apprehended in the 400 block of North Prospect.
Officers retraced the path that Hernandez had driven while attempting to evade officers, and located a handgun in the yard of a residence in the 4200 block of SW 3rd Avenue. APD found that a residence and a vehicle in the 100 block of N. Belleview had been struck by bullets. Hernandez was arrested for Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. The shooting incident remains under investigation.
