One of the never-ending debates in Amarillo is over why we don't get big concerts in the city, how we can get them, and if we will ever get them. While most are focused on bands, the Amarillo Civic Center is going after comics. From Theo Von and Chris D'elia to Jo Koy and Steve Trevino, the early part of the year has been packed. Now, look who else is coming to town.

Saturday Night Live Alum Coming To The Globe News Center For The Performing Arts

The ad was surprising on Facebook. Never in a million years did I think I would see something like this. There was a bright, flashy graphic of one of my favorite SNL cast members, and they're coming to Amarillo.

Rob Schneider will be taking over the stage in the Globe News Center on May 9. It's a wild night that features not just Rob Schneider, but also the Rob Schneider band. He kicks the whole thing off with classic Vegas music, and once he's done making you swoon with the sweet sounds of his sultry voice, he'll tickle your funny bone.

It sounds like an interesting evening with someone we all know, who has recently made a name for himself by tackling the most controversial topics on stage. You can find out more at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex website.

Will We Be Seeing More Stand Up Comics In Amarillo In 2025?

What will be interesting to see is who else we will see pop up in Amarillo for 2025. When you check the events calendar on the Amarillo Civic Center Complex website, you start seeing a lot of open dates as you get into August and September.

It makes you wonder what shows we will see getting announced in the next couple of months. I could be way off, but it feels like we're seeing a lot more comics this year and I'm not mad about it. One thing is for certain, I'm keeping a close eye on the calendar this year.
