‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer: Time to Fight a Robot Samurai
The Turtles are back!
After a brief marketing stint that revealed a batch of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' posters, the new trailer for the Jonathan Liebesman-directed, Michael Bay-produced, live-action 'TMNT' movie has hit the web.
Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello -- while understandably unnerving some fans of the franchise with their human-like CGI appearance -- are ready to defend their city with the scrappy April O'Neil (played by Megan Fox) in tow. But while fans are no doubt planning their trips to the theaters to see these heroes in action, the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' trailer unveils a new and animatronic Shredder, ninja master Splinter (Tony Shalhoub), Fox's reporter sidekick Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg!
One thing we noticed in the trailer that really caught our attention was at the 1:14 mark. Who is this mystery man?
Possible SPOILERS AHEAD, but we've heard from those who've seen an early cut of the film, that William Fichtner actually isn't Shredder in the movie. And, that this above mystery man is the one who actually wears the Shredder armor that is presented to him by Eric Sachs, the character Fichtner actually plays and who has a connection to the Turtles. Specifically, how this all ties together, we're unclear on, but it explains the "we're taking your armor to the next level" line.
From the official plot of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles':
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' drops into theaters August 8, and you can check out the latest poster below.
