In Texas, we do everything bigger than everyone else. It's part of what it means to be Texan. Our weird roadside attractions are bigger. Our state fair mascot is bigger. Our rage is bigger. When it comes to rage, look no further than the Lone Star State's gamers to see just how angry we can get.

Sometimes it results in a controller being thrown, which isn't nearly as prevalent in this day and age thanks to the insane prices of a replacement. Almost always, someone will rage quit which is where you get so mad, you turn the damned thing off.

Texas happens to be the top spot in the country when it comes to rage quitting. More specifically, gamers in north Texas are the most likely to rage quit in the nation. This is all according to a recent study by Liquid Web.

The Cause For Texan Gamers' Rage Is One You Won't Expect

What is most fascinating is the cause of this rage. It isn't because they suck at the game or got destroyed playing online. The reason behind this rage is lag. In fact, connectivity issues in Texas have been a larger problem for quite some time. Infrastructure, location, and just the sheer size of our population all can cause problems.

It's interesting that in a state that is growing so fast with constantly expanding major metro areas, connectivity issues would be what is plaguing gamers the most. It makes you wonder what else is being affected by our lagging connections, and why.

I don't know how many times this past week I've restarted a router, called my service provider, and turned devices off because of connectivity issues. Even streaming a movie can be tedious work, and yes I've even rage quit a session or two of Hell Divers 2 this week because of lag.

Maybe one day lag will be a thing of the past, but until then try to breathe. Maybe restart your router, get a cup of coffee, and let your friends in another state do the hosting.
