Have you ever been surrounded by beauty?

That's precisely what you find yourself surrounded by when you walk into the Amarillo Botanical Gardens. I don't know about you, but when the pandemic began, I decided to pick up a hobby. This hobby happens to be gardening.

I'm in my early 30s and have a small child so I thought a ha, this will be easy. I mean, if I can keep a child alive, surely I can keep a plant alive.

Let me tell you something: easier said than done.

I have, unfortunately, killed several pretty plants....but I have also learned how to keep just as many alive and thriving! My foray into the world of plants has led me to have a whole new respect for those who have gardening as a full-time passion.

Which brings me back to the Amarillo Botanical Gardens.

As an Amarillo native, I've always known about this place, but I don't think I ever truly appreciated it until my last few visits. This little tiny place that's tucked away in a corner of Medi-Park is truly a hidden gem of our city.

According to the website, it was started as a small gardening club in 1929 and is now a vibrant organization that attracts visitors from all over the world. Many people elect to have their weddings and events here, and I can definitely see why. It's beautiful, full of color, shady, and feels like a secret garden that's hidden away from the rest of the town.

But my absolute most favorite part about the Botanical Gardens is the fact that they have educational programs.

They have a rich array of educational programs that are perfect for children and their teachers. I know that I want to get my son involved in caring for the environment, and it looks like these lessons are perfectly crafted to catch the attention of the youth while planting the seed of a passion for the earth.

Take a look at some of the lovely things to see at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens.
