Tour Canyon’s Dreamland Cemetery and Learn All About Its History
The thought of touring a cemetery might be creepy, but you can always find amazing history in the resting place of those that have gone before us. The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum has a wonderful opportunity to learn some great history in one of our local cemeteries.
On Saturday, March 25th the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum along with the Dreamland Cemetery Association are hosting a Cemetery Walking Tour.
The tour will begin at 3pm and will last until 6pm.
Those participating in the tour will learn the history of the cemetery. Along with the history you will be able to learn about the architecture, the different monuments and you will get to hear the stories of some amazing people buried in Dreamland Cemetery.
Pioneers of Canyon will be featured on this walking tour. Those pioneers include the second president of WTAMU, J.A. Hill, Professional wrestler, Dory Funk, WWI veterans Ray C. Cample and Thomas Knighton. Plus great stories of the founder of the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, Hattie Anderson. Enjoy hearing about the history of Margaret Harper, the founder of The Musical Drama TEXAS.
This tour will be 3 hours of learning about the great history of Canyon and the people that helped make this wonderful city. Plus it's a chance to learn how life was back in the day.
