US 87 Into Canyon Will Be Closed to Work on Railroad Tracks
If you commute in and out of Canyon, you will need to find an alternate route for the next few weeks. US 87, which is 23rd Street into and out of the City of Canyon will be closed.
UPDATE: Due to high winds, the construction to start on the railroad tracks will begin next week and continue through the following week.
Monday, January 30th - Wednesday, February 1st the road will closed again to allow for work on the north side of the tracks. The road will be reopened on Thursday, February 2nd.
It will continue Monday, February 6th- Wednesday, February 8th.
This is all weather permitting

The Texas Department of Transportation along with BSNF Railroad will be doing railroad maintenance.
The road will be closed starting today through this Wednesday to work on the south tracks. The road will open this Thursday. Then starting on Monday, January 30th - Wednesday, February 1st the road will closed again to allow for work on the north side of the tracks. The road will be reopened on Thursday, February 2nd.
They will be removing tracks and old decking and replacing it with new decking and ballast.
Barriacades and construction signs will be placed.
If you are traveling north you will be detoured onto 4th Ave to 15th St, north to US 60. If you are traveling south you will be detoured to US 60 to 15th St and east on 4th Ave to US 87.
You will want to find alternate routes during this time.
