Texas provides an online list of sex offenders.  It is public record.  If you were in a public place and saw a sex offender from the list and knew they probably shouldn't be there, what would you do?

I, as a mother, have a tendency to check out the Texas Sex Offender Database on occasion just to make sure there aren't any sex offenders creeping around the neighborhood.

I just happened to be in an area about a month ago where children frequent, and recognized the face of a person from the list who shouldn't have been there or at least in my opinion shouldn't have been near this place.

Yes it was a public place, however a children's event was taking place.

I don't know about you, but if you are on the Texas Sex Offenders list for sexual misconduct with a child you probably shouldn't be hanging out at a children's event regardless if you are still on probation or not.

I let the coordinators of the event know what was going on and they took care of the situation.

What would you have done in a situation like this?  If you recognized a person from the Texas Sex Offenders list at a children's event would you speak up?

Did I do the right thing by making someone aware of the situation.  Should I have let it go, because this person served their time?

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
