Listen to the Whitney Houston 911 Call
The horror, shock and tragedy of Whitney Houston’s death was conveyed with a calm voice to a 911 dispatcher. “This is security from the Beverly Hilton. I need paramedics; apparently I have 46-year-old female found in the bathroom.”
“I’m not sure if she fell or if she was in the bathroom with the water,” the security guard continued. After some questioning regarding Houston’s room number, the caller clarified, “Apparently she was not breathing.” The caller reveals that the person who called security was “irate” and he “couldn’t get much out of her,” indicating that it may not have been clear at the time whether or not Houston was still alive.
“Did it sound like the person was still not breathing?” the dispatcher asked. Security replied with a curt “yes.” The security guard revealed that they couldn’t get into the room to attempt to give Houston CPR because whoever called security kept hanging up on them.
Just before the 911 tape was released, the Beverly Hills Police Department announced that they closed the investigation on her death, citing that no foul play was involved in her passing.
Houston’s official cause of death was listed as accidental “drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.” Houston’s body was covered in scars and showed signs of liver disease, and she was found face down in the bathtub with a bloody nose at the time of her death. Cocaine was reportedly found in her hotel room, which may be why her associates were hesitant to let guards inside.
