Whitney Houston’s Daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown Announces Engagement
After months of speculation, it appears that Whitney Houston's 19-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is engaged to Nick Gordon, who is often referred to as Whitney's godson.
The E! Network unveiled a promo of the Lifetime reality show 'The Houstons: On Our Own,' in which Bobbi nervously giggles, "We're engaged!" In the next scene, we see Bobbi's uncle, Gary Houston, confront Gordon telling him, "No one knew that from a godson, you would turn into a boyfriend." Then in a voiceover -- maybe from Pat Houston, Gary's wife and Whitney's longtime manager -- we hear, "An engagement? This is unacceptable."
Now while media outlets are reporting that Bobbi and Nick are planning to get hitched, some critics think it's just a ruse to get people to watch the reality show. In an interview with ABC News, Pat Houston denied that the young couple are engaged.
"A lot of teenagers, when they hit 18, they think they’re grown," she said. "They think they know it all, they think they know about relationships. You just have to be there to navigate and guide them. You have to hope that their feelings will not get hurt, but they will."
In the preview clip, a defiant Bobbi Kristina tells the viewers, "They want to see us fail... we won't." If the reports are true, we wish Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon the best in their engagement.
The Lifetime reality series, 'The Houstons: On Our Own' will premiere on Oct. 24 at 9PM EST.
Update: WENN reports that a representative for Bobbi Kristina says she is not engaged, despite the fact that this footage leads viewers to believe otherwise.
