Why Is A Massive Field Of Abandoned Classic Cars In Pampa, TX?
Traveling through the Texas panhandle, you'll see all manner of picture worthy sights. Some of them are a little bit more...surprising...than others. Take the "field o' cars" in Pampa, TX, for instance.
Which leads me to wonder, why is there a massive field of abandoned classic cars in Pampa in the first place?
What Is The Field Of Classic Cars In Pampa, TX?
At first glance, you might think you're passing some kind of scrap yard. The field of classic cars is exactly what the name suggests. In a field, near Pampa, there is a massive collection of classic cars.
All of which sit exposed to the panhandle sun and seasons.
The interesting, and head-scratching part, is that this isn't a scrap yard. It's not a pick-a-part place. They're not for sale.
This is actually a collection. What the heck?
Around 200 Classic Cars Baking In The Pampa, Texas Sun
According to legend, there's somewhere in the vicinity of 200 cars in this collection. Supposedly, the individual who owns the land is just a big-time enthusiast.
He finds these fossils, and then puts them on display in the field. You can tell that there's thought put into the collection just by looking at how neatly its all arranged.
The collection is mainly vehicles from the 50s and 60s.
While you can't necessarily get up close and personal with the vehicles( it's not a dang museum, after all), you can get an impressive view from the road.
It's an interesting sight to see, and the vehicles, while suffering under the blazing sun, are absolute classics and worth taking a looking at the next time you're in the neighborhood.
