AI is all the rage. There are daily news headlines about new advances in artificial intelligence, which jobs it's supposedly going to replace, and how it's going to be the end of human existence. A company recently asked ChatGPT to create a special cocktail that highlights the uniqueness of each of the 50 states.

Have we been giving AI way too much credit, based on the cocktail it created for Texas?

When it comes to the Lone Star State, it isn't that difficult to sum up our culinary tastes. We like BBQ and Tex-Mex. We're big fans of beer and margaritas. Whatever we get, it needs to have massive portions. Everything is bigger in the Lone Star State, after all.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that artificial intelligence would come up with some kind of spicy cocktail that includes tequila, or something that incorporates Whataburger's spicy ketchup. You'd be completely wrong.

A team of curious individuals at Fashion Nova decided to have AI come up with a signature cocktail for Texas, and also give the recipe. It's a little shocking.

The cocktail is named Lone Star Grapevine. It consists of grape-infused vodka, lime juice, and honey syrup. It's garnished with grapes and a lime wheel and is served on ice. While it doesn't sound bad, it doesn't necessarily scream "Texas." You can see the recipe at this link.

Vodka is a somewhat understandable choice. Tito's Vodka is a Texas original. It's a fantastic vodka that I enjoy, even as someone who rarely ever drinks vodka. What about the grapes? Texas, as I've found out, is a pretty great place to grow grapes in certain regions. That also means that Texas is a popular place to make wine.

The lime is the one thing that I assumed would be there.

If you know about the state's history with vodka and grapes, then the AI-generated cocktail makes sense. I don't think, however, that it will be replacing our margaritas anytime soon.
