The Texas Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross has deployed a shelter team to Lubbock today after and two alarm fire at the Briercroft Manor Apartments.

According to Chris Knight, Executive Director, Panhandle Area,North Texas Region   American Red Cross, a four person team of trained disaster volunteers from Tulia have headed to Lubbock to help with the explosion.

The explosion occurred at 9:15 this morning.

According to Everything Lubbock:

Seven people were transported to local hospitals.
Six were sent to University Medical Center and one person is being treated at Covenant Medical Center.
No word on the extent of their injuries.
A resident at the Briercroft Manor Apartments said she heard two loud booms and thought someone had driven a car through her apartment.
She reported that pictures fell to the floor.

The apartment complex is located north of Lowrey Field and east of the Kmart on University Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.
