Coca-Cola is everywhere. The drink is sold in just about every supermarket, drug store and gas station across the country and throughout the world. Not much has changed since the product's inception except, of course, the price.

You might not think selling a soft drink during a school lunch period is that big of an issue, but the truth is it could cost a school thousands of dollars.
Much like cigarettes and alcohol are taxed, there is a movement afoot to levy similar charges on soda and other sweetened beverages.
By analyzing the results of a 10-year longitudinal study of 474 people, researchers were able to determine that the participants who drank two or more diet sodas a day experienced a waist size increase 70 percent greater than those who stayed away from diet soda.
Dr. Martin P. Paulus, a professor of psychiatry at the University of California San Diego, and an author of the study, offered this theory as to why something without calories can lead to weight gain:
