‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Casts Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore

X-Men Cast
Fox

We knew that ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ was going to be a time travel story that would somehow merge the universes of the original ‘X-Men’ films and ‘X-Men: First Class,’ but the most recent casting news suggests something more epic than we could have possibly imagined. A cavalcade of past mutant superheroes have officially joined the cast, deepening an already absurdly great ensemble.

Director Bryan Singer announced the news via his Twitter feed, jokingly thanking ‘X-Men: The Last Stand ‘director Brett Ratner for not killing off Anna “Rogue” Paquin, Ellen “Shadowcat” Page and Shawn “Iceman” Ashmore, allowing them to join the latest film in the longrunning series (although that didn’t stop him from bring Patrick Stewart’s Professor X back to life). Here’s his full tweet:

Paquin, Page and Ashmore join a cast that already includes, Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy. The fact that so many “old” X-Men are joining the cast suggests that even more crazy casting news are on the way. Can this one bring Halle Berry and Alan Cumming back into the fold? We certainly hope so!

In any case, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is shaping up to have the best cast of any superhero movie, well, ever. If Singer can recapture the magic that made ‘X2′ the best of the ‘X-Men’ movies so far, we could be looking at a class. We’ll just have to wait until July 18, 2014 to know for sure.
