When it comes to Halloween, we think of trick or treating and dressing up.

Sometimes there's a house party or two, but what if you REALLY want to let loose?

Well while you're focusing on things for the kids to do, I've got your back on the grown and sexy parties for you to attend this Saturday, October 30.

CHESNEY'S 80'S HALLOWEEN BASH

Where: Chesney's Whiskey Saloon @ 715 S. Polk, Amarillo TX 79101

This one looks like it's going to be a rad time. Notice the use of "rad" there? Yeah, let's time travel back to the 80's shall we? They're gonna have DJ Frenzy on the 1's and 2's, presumably spinning all those 80's faves, and no doubt you'll hear Rockwell, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince...and yes, you'll be doing the Thriller dance at some point in the evening.

It doesn't stop there though. They're bringing in acclaimed 80's cover band The Echos from Wichita to play some live tunes for ya. I mean come on, a live band and a DJ spinning all night? Still not enough for ya?

Fine, let's throw in an 80's costume contest that could win you $1,000 cold hard cash and another live band, Texas Hits & A Miss, out on the patio. You sold now? Good. See ya there.

THE CEDAR SHACK

Where: The Cedar Shack @ 5005 River Road, Amarillo TX, 79108

Not feeling a party with a ton of live music? It's all good, I get it's not for everyone. The Cedar Shack is having their own costume party where the best overall costume will pull down $100 cash and second place will chip away at their bar tab with $25 cash.

Oh, did I mention they'll have free food and the jukebox will be free all night as well? You can listen to whatever you want and stuff your face with free food while playing pool on one of their 3 pool tables.

If you want to get away from it all, you can. They've got a covered outdoor patio for you to enjoy your friends company while sipping some drinks. Come get some.

SKOOTERZ

Where: Skooterz Bar & Grill @ 4100 Bushland Blvd, Amarillo TX, 79106

Yup, you guessed it. Here's another costume party you could head to and win some prizes and cash! You'll have to be signed in by 10:30pm if you want to partake in that, so get there early. Let's be real though, any place that says you have to be there by 10:30pm is about to throw down all night long.

There will be prizes given away for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their costume contest. I wish I could tell ya what those prizes are, but I can't. Guess you'll just have to show up and find out what you're walking away with right?

They'll also have giveaways for ANYONE in costume throughout the evening, so the winning is not just limited to those trying to vie for top prize. Not to mention their great pizza and wings, you're in for a good time here.

MARSHALL'S TAVERN

Where: Marshall's Tavern @ 3121 6th Avenue, Amarillo TX, 79106

Did I save the best for last? Well, I don't know about that but maybe! Marshall's is going to be putting it down in a major way.

Karaoke starting at 9:30pm, the evening hosted by Juicy K. That alone is enough to draw some people in right? Well of course, they're doing a big costume contest as well!

They've handing out over $1,000 in prizes for costume contestants. This is anther one where you have to be there and entered by 10:30pm, so settle in for a fun, long night. They're also going to have "spooky drink specials" as they put it, so you're going to save some coin at the bar on top of it all.

If you get the munchies, they've got you covered with $1 hot dogs all day and night. You definitely won't be leaving hungry or thirsty...and you could leave with some heavier pockets!

Ranchotel: The Forgotten Landmark of Old Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas

The Ranchotel, located at 2501 W. 6th St., is a product of Route 66's heyday.

When Americans first began long-distance automotive travel, they typically stayed in hotels or camped beside the road. In response, clever entrepreneurs began to build what were called tourist courts. The Ranchotel is one of these.

It was built in 1940 and until recently, it was considered one of the best preserved examples of Route 66's tourist facilities. It was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and was well maintained until 2020.

Even now, in spite of the building's fading beauty, there is still the nostalgic air held by many a historic landmark.

The Abandoned St. Anthony's Hospital on Amarillo Boulevard

The 119-year-old abandoned hospital is a fascinating place for any who are lucky enough to be granted the chance to explore.

The sprawling building saw thousands of Amarillo's citizens inside its halls daily, all the the way until it was shuttered in 2001. But there are still incredible artifacts of the all-too-recent past tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the old St. Anthony.

The explorer who took these photographs gave the following information:

"Many rooms were left untouched, we found patient files, old prescriptions, a blood transfusion machine from the 60s, and microscopic slides of breast cancer from the 70s and 80s. I put one picture in here of some heart scans so you can see the dates and diagnosis of the patient, but marked out the patient’s names of course. During a time when mental illness was not understood, 76 exorcisms were documented to have been performed between 1909 and 1931."
