Amarillo being high on the list makes a lot of sense. We're centrally located in the Texas panhandle with the airport, and there's plenty to do over a weekend in Amarillo. If someone were to plan their trip right there would be a sporting event or concert waiting for them along with all of the usual tourist stops. Plus, we have Palo Duro Canyon a short drive away for the outdoor enthusiasts.

In Amarillo, people tend to book a hotel room 1.4 days in advance on average. That means people wait until the last minute to book their hotel rooms, which means the trip was pretty spontaneous.

How "Amarillo" of them to wait until the last second to decide to get out and have some fun. The least spontaneous destination in the U.S. is Honolulu, Hawaii. People book their rooms 47.2 days in advance when heading out to catch a luau.
