The City Of Amarillo Desperately Needs You To Get A Barn Cat
When I lived outside of Amarillo, Texas, I was constantly having to deal with pests...like mice. Eventually, I got one of the meanest feral cats I could find and suddenly my pest problem wasn't that big of a problem anymore. Barn cats are horrible pets, but great at hanging around and getting rid of the nuisances that can wreak havoc on your property. If you need a barn cat, the City of Amarillo needs you to contact them.
The City Of Amarillo Animal Management And Welfare...And Barn Cats
In case you didn't know, the City has a program set up to help feral cats transition to living life as a barn cat. It's a pretty straightforward program. If you need a barn cat, you contact Animal Management and Welfare. You can adopt a barn cat and there's no adoption fee. They're spayed and neutered and are vaccinated. You'll even get a lot of information regarding safety and the well-being of the cats.
Keep in mind, these are barn cats. These aren't the cats that come inside and sit on your lap. Your daughter won't be putting them in a baby stroller and walking around the house. These are feral cats that will stay outside and hunt the pests on your property.
Please, PLEASE Take A Barn Cat If You Have Need Of One
In a recent post on social media, the City of Amarillo highlighted the barn cat program and commented on the need for people to come get one. Apparently, the City takes in a lot of feral cats and constantly need adopters. The post mentions that the City takes in a "significant number" of feral cats.
It's not hard to imagine that the AMW feral cat population would be high. It seems every neighborhood in Amarillo has a lot of cats wandering around on the prowl. Some areas are inundated with feral cats. It's a problem in some parts of our city.
This is a great way to get those cats off the streets and to a home where they can be free and eat all the mice they want. For more info, contact Animal Management and Welfare.
