Hey Amarillo, Texas, What Happened To This Forest Alley?
There's been a lot of talk around Amarillo, Texas about trash and sofas clogging up alleys in our fine city. If you haven't seen any posts on social media about the refuse in the alleys, check back in a few minutes. Recently, I stumbled across something I've never seen before, and haven't seen anyone complain about. Hey Amarillo, what the heck happened to this alley?
Before You Say The Homeowners Need To Mow...
You need to understand exactly what it is that you're eyes are trying to decipher. The growth you're seeing isn't just along the sides of the alley near the various properties. That growth is in the middle of the freaking alley.
The picture above is where you should see pavement, cobbles, bricks, asphalt, whatever you make an alley out of. Where the hell did the alley go?
The Secret Garden Alley Of Amarillo, Texas
The craziest part is the part of the alley that just ends. It looks like the kind of thing you could crawl into and find a magical door that leads you to a secret garden or some fantastical Narnia-esque land. There's another thing you may notice when you look at the pictures. There are no dumpsters.
Is this neighborhood one of the original garbage buckets on wheels neighborhoods? It doesn't look like anyone or anything has traveled down this alley in a long time, other than stray cats and stray people. Maybe a dog or two.
I'm curious if this has happened in other alleys in Amarillo. I've never seen anything like this before in my life. As a kid, all of the neighborhood kids hung out in the alley after school. I've always had a dumpster resting along a narrow paved path for garbage trucks. The only time I've seen something like this was in South Carolina back in the holler where my grandparents lived.
Does anyone else have a secret garden alley in Amarillo?
