Whether you knew you needed them or not, Braum’s has introduced new flavors of ice cream. I went ahead and gave some of them a taste test so you’ll know what you’re in for.

The new flavors include Oatmeal Cookie, Cookie Monster, PB&J, Spicy Mango Raspberry Fiesta Sherbet, Deep Raspberry Ganache, and Strawberry Blondie. Along with the new flavors comes new sundae options (there are only four new sundaes).

We’ll start with what is, in my opinion, the real winner. Oatmeal Cookie sounds like a disaster, but was easily my favorite. The flavor is great, and the bits of granola and almond brittle weren’t overpowering.

Cookie Monster lives up to its name. This is a “cake” ice cream that tastes like straight-up cookie dough, with chunks of cookie inside. It was good in small doses, but you’ve got to have an insane cookie addiction to sit and go through a pint.

PB&J was interesting. I put a spoonful of ice cream in my mouth, but it tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Watch out for big clumps of jelly. The peanut butter flavor is fantastic. Not my favorite, but not bad.

Spicy Mango Raspberry Fiesta Sherbet...was interesting. A couple of small bites were fine. The mango flavor overpowered any kind of “spicy” kick. When I decided to take a much bigger bite, the fruity mango flavor gave way to an almost “irritating burn” in the back of my throat. It was the kind of burn you get from indigestion, just no flavor to go with it. Probably going to skip this one from now on.

Deep Raspberry Ganache was pretty good if you like chocolate. The chocolate flavor was great without being overpowered by a raspberry “taste.”

These flavors are available for a limited time.
