Carrie Fisher + Debbie Reynolds Share Fears, Trade Barbs in ‘Bright Lights’ Trailer
Less than a month after Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds died within hours of each other, HBO is ensuring the gleam the daughter and mother projected continues to sparkle — the network just dropped the trailer for the Bright Lights documentary, which follows the pair of Hollywood darlings.
The film, which was shot in 2014 and 2015, drops on January 7 at 8 PM EST on HBO (it was originally slated for later release, but was pushed up in light of the actress' deaths), and looks at the often hilarious relationship between Fisher and Reynolds. There's levity in Fisher's mocking of Reynolds' cellphone, and Reynolds' admonishing of Fisher for pointing her ass toward the camera. But shots are ensconced in heavier concerns: Fisher fears for Reynolds' health, and Reynolds has a tough time recounting Fisher's bouts of depression.
"Far more than I would ever want to, I know what my mother feels and wants," Fisher jokes toward the end of the segment. "There's a lot of it."
Still, Reynolds puts up a good fight when it comes to the contest for best one-liner.
"I share everything with my daughter," she says. "Especially the check."
