Back In the Day

Every year Amarillo finds a time machine and takes a step back in time.  OK so maybe it isn't a time machine, but it will take you back in time.  It's the Nostalgic Polk Street Cruise.

Back on this day in 1986 was a tragic day in American History.  It was supposed to be a momentous day and it turned into something horrible.

Back on this day, the Twinkie was born.  That yummy spongecake goodness filled with that delicious sweet cream entered this earth 85 years ago.  Let's honor the Twinkie today.

Let's face it, if you remember this commercial you are getting old.  Thirty-one years ago today, the Wendys "Where's the Beef" commercial first aired.  Let's take a trip back in time and reminisce.

When you are in high school the one thing you really don't want to miss is prom.  It is just something you do, and it has been something that has been a traditional right of passage for high school students for over a century.  That's why this story is amazing.  A class in 1943 had their prom cancelled because of the war and they are now having it 70 years later.

I started asking myself, why do we celebrate President's Day?  Did we just mush Washington and Lincoln's birthday into one holiday?  Are we supposed to celebrate all the Presidents?  What is it?  I started doing a little research because apparently as you get older your forget certain things you learned as a child.

Back on this day in 1985 an American-French expedition by led by marine geologist Dr. Robert Ballard located the wreck.  The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912 and over 1,500 lives perished on that fateful night.ti

Back on this day, June 6, 1933 the very first drive-in opened in Camden, New Jersey.  Google even saluted the history of the drive-in today with their Google Doodle.
