For those of you who are anxiously awaiting the release of the new Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, you shouldn’t have to wait much longer. Some new functionality that will be offered on the devices running Ice Cream Sandwich will be Google Wallet.

Google Wallet is basically exactly what it sounds like. It is carrying all your credit and debit cards directly on your phone. It is completely secure (unless you share your password with someone) and works with any participating location.

Basically, you add your cards into the app (or use the google debit card that you can charge using your other cards – for those of you who don’t want to put your entire available debt or credit balance up for usage) then when you are rang up at a store, you place the back of your phone up to the terminal and tap it, the information is sent and your purchase is made. It’s that simple.

Google wallet will also offer coupons and offers that only users will be able to get from stores they are currently in, and store they frequent most. It tracks each payment and even keeps track of your rewards cards, to ensure you get your loyalty rewards when using certain cards.

This is truly a replacement to carrying a wallet full of cards and makes for quick, easy payment options.
