Here Are Some Of Amarillo’s Best Places To Find An Open Mic
I found myself with a little free time on a Sunday afternoon recently. I had heard about a Sunday jam session that takes place every week, and decided to go give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It was well worth my time.
If you're looking for local music, here are some of Amarillo's best places to catch a jam session.
Where To Find An Open Mic In Amarillo, Texas
There are several open mics in the area. If you've got some new originals you're wanting to try out, or you're just wanting to get up on stage and get your feet wet, you have ample opportunity in Yellow City.
Some open mics are more like jam sessions. Others are all about you getting in front of the room and having your moment.
Here's a quick look at some of my favorite open mics in Amarillo.
Hoot's Pub Every Sunday At 4PM
Every Sunday at 4pm you'll find Lindsey Lane's Pickin' Party at Hoot's Pub. I checked this one out recently and what made it stand out was the band. They were itching for a chance to back up anyone who got up to play.
Big open space. Plenty of room to dance. Door prizes. There's a lot going on, and it's honestly a pretty good time. Check it out.
Whiskey River Every First Wednesday Night
This one is hosted by Lee Scheetz and Mike Paulk. There's a good chance you'll get plenty of variety. On nights I've gone, it's been a good mix between Rock and Country.

The Broken Spoke Thursday Nights
This one is hosted by Buster Bledsoe. I tend to have a problem where I wind up having too much fun when I go to the Broken Spoke. Open mics here are usually pretty good and bring out some great talent.
Open Mics At The 806 Coffee + Lounge
Open mics at The 806 are a lot of fun. There's a lot of variety in talent, and there's usually something that you didn't expect. Well worth checking out. Plus, the menu at The 806 is pretty hard to beat.
Keep an eye on their social media for updates.
