A small plane was spotted upside down after crashing into a wooded area in South Texas. The pilot emerged from the wreck and left the scene, but the cause of the crash remains a mystery to all.

A Confusing Texas Plane Crash

The crash that happened sometime around 10:45 p.m. last weekend continues to baffle investigators as little is know about the incident.

What we do know is that the crash happened shortly after takeoff, as the plane, a single-engine Cessna 172, was found upside down just a quarter mile from the Pearland Regional Airport.

Texas DPS was quick to notify the public, taking to X in a post providing updates on the damage:

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but, according to reports from Chron, the pilot of the aircraft walked away unscathed.

Late that night, neighbors who lived nearby heard the plane crash into a wooded portion of the area and approached the scene to administer any help to injured passengers.

ABC13 spoke with someone who lived nearby who had just gotten home when he witnessed the crash happen. After he and a second person went to the crash site, they called out to the pilot who was responsive and remained uninjured.

The witness, Jose Torres, told ABC13 how confusing the whole thing was. "It was kinda crazy. We've lived here for a long time, and planes usually land going that way, and this one was facing the other way, upside down. It didn't make a lot of sense how that happened."

The Federal Aviation Administration is actively investigating this crash to finally identify how it could have happened.
