One of the best parts about living in Amarillo is the sense of pride in the community. It extends from the residents to the business owners to the city itself. Highlighting things people in the city are doing has always been something we've been good at as a community.

The City of Amarillo is also good about showcasing its residents through certain initiatives and projects, and they're doing it once again in 2026.

Every Drop Calendar Returns

It's one of the coolest calendars you'll find anywhere, and it's because it's resident-driven. To narrow it down a bit, it's targeted at the kids of Amarillo to show off their artistic skills. The "Every Drop Counts" calendar is back, and it's time to start thinking about what to draw up.

The calendar is designed to showcase the importance of water and water conservation, but rather than just a bland calendar with facts, this one breathes life and color, all from a child's eyes.

Registration Rules & Info

Students from kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to participate in the contest. They'll draw up or paint their best artwork wrapped around water and water conservation, then submit it to the city. There will be a vote on the best renditions, and the top 13 will be selected, with the 13th being the cover of the calendar.

The pride of having your artwork in the calendar would be enough for these kiddos, but the city is making it a bit more appealing. Participants will be eligible for a $1,000 gift card, exclusive merchandise, and other prizes. If your kiddo wants to participate, all the info and registration can be found here.

I love Google. It can literally answer ANYTHING you need it to answer. Whether it's right or wrong is a totally different question.

Recently, I found myself wondering about something and went to Google. And that's when I started noticing the "people also asked..." section and BOY...Some of them made perfect sense, some of them were interesting, and one of them was downright baffling...and it was a top 10 question which is even more absurd.

So let's see what we've got. Here's the top 10 questions as asked to Google about Amarillo.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
